Software/apps to organise information

Following a presentation I had today for doctoral candidates within law, here are links to some of the software I mentioned that can help you organise your research sources:

  • Sente: available for Mac and iPad with syncing possibility, easy import of journal articles, mark quotes with different colours, add your own comments, print out only the quotes and notes, automatic convert sources into footnotes and bibliography.
  • Mendeley: available online and for Mac, Windows and Linux, iPhone and iPad, easy import of journal articles, highlight quotes and add notes, social media functions to share and comment on sources, upload your own publications, access your sources from your computer and your iPhone all the time, free.
  • Papers: available for Mac, Windows and iOS, easy import of journal articles, highlight quotes, add notes, automatic convert sources into footnotes and bibliography.
  • Evernote: available online and for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, add, sort, organise and access websites, pictures of books you see in a store and want to remember to buy later, own thoughts and comments, share your notebooks with friends and colleagues, free.

I will write about the different tools a bit more in detail within the next few weeks. So stay tuned!
